Attachment
February 23, 2024
Humans experience thousands of daily conscious and unconscious attachments to things, ideas, people, connections, experiences, beliefs, etc. Attachments are paradoxical – we need them for stability and understanding yet we also need to be ready to shed them for growth to occur.
Come explore how attachment is a construct that is a part of all changes (individual or collective), has an element of loss, and a striving towards the unknown. Attachments provide support as we walk out on the rope bridge that is enshrouded in fog while hoping that the other side provides what we need to satisfy our burning need.
Curiosity
Nov 15, 2024
The complexity of the world needs us to be curious. Our ancestors were deeply curious, they needed that quality to stay alive. Today requires even more curiosity about origins, intent, considerations, and even ethics.
While curiosity is thrown around as the ‘magic pill’ to innovation, it isn’t quite that simple. We need to get back in touch with our core curiosity, become avid learners, and understand how curiosity can help us loosen attachments that can keep us stuck. Questions that will guide us:
- When were you most curious when learning?
- When did learning shut down your curiosity?
- How would you define curiosity?
- Are there different types of curiosity?
- Where does curiosity derail learning?
- Where does curiosity enable learning?
Play
August 16, 2024
Play has been scientifically studied across a wide range of academic disciplines — ethology, psychology, brain science, educational psychology, evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and positive psychology.
Together we will explore the various nuances and experiences of playing – what it is, how we experience it, and how play shapes the brain, opens imagination, and invigorates the soul.
Reflection
December 13, 2024
Together we will explore the differences between reflection and contemplation, how we engage in these practices individually and collectively, and how these practices support movement in our growth and learning.
